Elaine Brady Smith is a Pennsylvania native and a graduate of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh with a degree in Graphic Arts. She has studied with regional and national mixed media and oil painting artists. Her current focus is contemporary realism in oil painting and abstract realism in paper collage. She also enjoys colored pencil illustration.

“I have developed a passion for painting realistic still life. There is something extraordinary about the quiet space that is preserved in a painting of arranged objects. I become absorbed into the two dimensional world on my canvas with each brush stroke of paint or layer of paper. I thoroughly enjoy the process.”

“I believe an essential part of the creative process for an artist is trying out many ideas in order to arrive where we are meant to be creatively. My work has undergone a transition and I have gone back to realism where I feel most comfortable. Art should be an enjoyable and satisfying experience as well as challenging to encourage growth towards excellence.”

Elaine has had solo art exhibits in several Pennsylvania galleries, and has shown her work in corporate displays in the Harrisburg/Lancaster area.
