Caren Shelley
Studio #102
Caren Shelley followed both of her parents paths, she became an artist and art teacher. Like her parents, she attended the Maryland Institute College of Art and majored in ceramics and Native American studies. She has been a private school art teacher for over 22 years and is the art teacher at The Londonderry School.
The death of a close childhood friend of cancer and the passing of her uncle Glenn from melanoma had a vital impact on her life which played a major role in her artwork. Caren has been on her own difficult journey, as she is a survivor of ovarian cancer, breast cancer and melanoma. Her husband and daughter Magnolia have an organic farm in Etters PA where she can connect with the earth, bending and shaping the unseen into forms that became her meditation and the her art can became monuments and channels for the ones she loves…sending out messages and droplets of her energy, spiraling in natural forms, her Irish and Slovakian heritage.
