Marjorie Taylor
Studio #214
Marjorie Taylor is a full-time artist based in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. She
attended the University of California, San Diego, majoring in fine art, and has taken
many art classes and workshops over the years to further her skills.
Marjorie started her art career painting murals and faux finishes in residences in
the Harrisburg area. She was selected to paint murals for several Harrisburg
Symphony Show-houses. After starting a family and seeking new artistic outlets,
she discovered a passion for glass mosaics and traveled to Venice, Italy, for a
workshop at Orsoni Glass. Her work then evolved into using shells in her mosaics.
In 2020, after her three daughters went to college, Marjorie focused exclusively on
painting with acrylic and oils.
Natural forms, insects, and the plant world provide her primary source of
inspiration, borrowed from old botanical and natural history books as well as her
observations while exploring her rural environment and regular travels. She
believes an essential connection exists between nature, art, and society. Plants,
animals, and society are visually inextricable. Through her work, she seeks to
inspire a sense of wonder and appreciation for the natural world.
When Marjorie is not painting, she enjoys hanging out with her husband,
daughters, and two rescue dogs.
