ModSew Designs

Studio #322

ModSew Designs embodies my childhood past and timeless inspirations from pop culture that have always resonated with me. I am fascinated with vintage aesthetics of the Mid-Century Modern era, the vibrancy and use of flat color from the Pop Art movement, and designer art toys and collectables. My work includes a variety of items from plush sculpture/mounts, two-dimensional papercut portraits, decorative aprons and other handcrafted and sewn goods.

Like many artists, I grew up with a passion for creating and a supportive home environment in which to do so. I received formal training in traditional art throughout school and earned a BA degree in Art History from Kutztown University. My skill-sets, knowledge, and love for sewing were acquired from the teachings and influence of my mother, grandmother, and nana.

I have been creating ModSew Designs for over ten years vending at local artisan shows throughout the Lancaster, Harrisburg, Carlisle and Chambersburg areas. I have also exhibited my two-dimensional work in venues such as Lancaster Dispensing Company, The Local Beat, Zeroday Brewing, Metropolis Collective, and Café 1500.

When I am not creating, I am working within the admissions department at Pennsylvania College of Art & Design in Lancaster, PA. Here, I help educate the youth about the opportunities within the visual arts and following their dream of making art their life’s work.
