Ana Hyder

Studio #322

Ana Hyder is a Harrisburg local offering an alternative photography process known as tin type or wet plate.

Growing up at the foothills of the Smoky Mountain National Park, Ana spent summers in mountain creeks, climbing boulders and exploring her busy tourist town. Although active in those moments-finding a sense of stillness in east TN. She finds a similar stillness in her tin types. Capturing a moment of time that will last for generations. Ana has taken various classes at Arrowmont Appalachian School of Art and art courses at HACC.

“My intention is to offer this experience to my community in an accessible and affordable setting. As far as portraits, it is a unique opportunity to have with a loved one, partner, child, pet, etc. You get what you get with this art, and the imperfections are part of what makes it beautiful. It shows our humanity and requires patience and slowing down. My desire with still life and landscapes is to capture the pith of the subject. No color, just texture and tone capturing a moment, telling a story.”
